Contrapunctus No. 9 from "The Art of Fugue" by Johann Sebastian Bach, arranged for four guitars by Tilman Hoppstock – also suitable for guitar orchestra. "The Art of Fugue," a cycle of 23 fugues, was Bach's last major cycle before his death in 1750 following a botched eye operation. The ninth piece in the cycle is particularly interesting because, in addition to presenting the varied subject matter, the composer quotes the original theme for the first time (and only time!). A truly magnificent fugue! With a preface in German and English and fingerings by the arranger. Score and parts included.
